When do you first remember becoming interested in Kristy Glas’ work?
One of my best friends was visiting from out of town while I was just getting into NFTs. Over a few glasses of whiskey, one conversation lead to another and our MetaMasks slowly filled with transactions from CryptoPunks, Gods Unchained, Cryptovoxels, and OpenSea. Inevitably, our late night escapade into the NFT rabbit hole led us to cryptoart.
We first inspected SuperRare as that platform looked to be the most prestigious in the place. Upon quickly surfing through many screens of not-particularly-interesting digital imagery, the transaction prices felt downright outrageous and absurd. Why would we or anybody else in their right mind pay hundreds to thousands of dollars to own a JPEG or GIF?
"Screw that" we conceded but then, for "funsies", my friend decided to take a look at MakersPlace, the other popular cryptoart platform. At the time, "The Watchful Forest" had just broken Kristy Glas' sales records and was featured on the homepage of their site. Glas' imaginative and fantastical work immediately captured both of our curiosities.
I grew up voraciously consuming fantasy and science fiction novels, dreaming of mystical worlds-that-could-be and crafting my own games. Though life has taken me down a different path, peering into Glas' work fulfills my deep-seated needs to daydream about worlds-that-could-be.
Also equally as important was seeing the bidding war happen on "The Watchful Forest". The fact that other folks were jousting for digital NFT images gave me the confidence that the idea of owning digital files (NFTs) wasn't completely delusional.
What’s your favorite Kristy Glas works that you own? And what are some pieces that she’s created that you wish belonged in your collection?
I'm hopelessly enamored with "The Tree of Hope" which I actually snagged off the secondary market from JakeThePanda—his loss :P
I see a very real potential future where we find ourselves in a post-apocalyptic world. In the aftermath of such an event, "The Tree of Hope" represents Pandora's Box, an idea that we can rebuild from our mistakes—make beauty from ugly—as long as we never give up hope.
I'm also the proud owner of Catchulhu 😹
I'd love to start adding adventure series artworks and have my eyes out on the master for her Async art piece coming up.
I'm envious of Dustin D. Trammell's "Rainbow Rain":

But, I'm content knowing that these pieces are in the hands of passionate Kristy Glas collectors.
Kristy Glas has been quite prolific with her work. What’s your favorite series that she’s done so far (eg. Pixel Cats, Adventure Series, Cyberpunk, Cat Doodles, Trees, Clouds, animated video) and what kinds of work would you like to see more of?
I love the "Tree" series. The stark contrast between a human-desolated world combo'd with the natural beauty of each tree comes together perfectly.
My collecting habit is laissez faire—I feel an artist's best work is whatever they're passionate about. I'm eager to see whatever Kristy Glas chooses to do.
When would you consider “selling” or relinquishing one of your Kristy Glas artworks?
I have no idea.
I'm relatively new to the cryptoart NFT scene and I'm not exactly sure how the market dynamics will work. I think collectors should only use money they can afford to completely write-off their bank accounts. The flexibility of not needing to sell any artwork gives me a lot of freedom to do whatever I'd like with my collection.
If the right collector came along and I knew they would cherish the Kristy Glas artworks, then I would seriously contemplate passing along my rights of ownership. I'd also consider selling my Glas artworks in the future to free up capital so that I can deploy them towards supporting and elevating newer cryptoartists.
